Western Life and Wawanesa Life have amalgamated and continue as one company
As approved by the federal government’s Minister of Finance, starting January 1, 2020, The Wawanesa Life Insurance Company (“Wawanesa Life”) and Western Life Assurance Company (“Western Life”) have amalgamated and continue as one company under the Wawanesa Life name and brand. With this change, we form a stronger and more streamlined organization to better service our valued partners and customers. Wawanesa Life is well-capitalized and enjoys the support and stability of our parent company, The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, the largest Canadian property and casualty mutual insurer.
If you are a Western Life individual insurance policyholder or group insurance plan member, there will be no changes to your current policy and no action is required on your part. All obligations related to your in-force Western Life policy automatically became obligations of the amalgamated Wawanesa Life. By now you should have received a letter by mail with more details. You can view a copy of those letters here: Western Life individual insurance policyholder letter, Western Life group insurance plan member letter.
On behalf of everyone at Wawanesa Life, we extend a warm welcome to our valued Western Life customers.
